Why Quantum Computing Won't Change Your Business Today.

Quantum headlines promise a revolution. The scoreboard says otherwise. Our honest read: it will not touch your business soon, with one exception.

Our position, stated plainly

Quantum computing is the most overhyped near-term story in technology. It will not touch your business anytime soon, and it will barely touch artificial intelligence this decade. We would rather tell you that plainly than sell you a quantum roadmap.

The scoreboard

A 2024 study by Bowles, Ahmed and Schuld ran twelve popular quantum machine learning models across one hundred sixty datasets. Plain out-of-the-box classical baselines came out ahead overall. No production machine learning workloads running on quantum hardware are publicly documented today.

The blockers are mathematical, not engineering. Loading classical data into a quantum state costs roughly what the speedup saves, and quantum neural networks hit barren plateaus where the training landscape goes flat. Better hardware does not fix either.

The one thing we are actually watching

Post-quantum cryptography. NIST has finalized the first standards, and harvest-now-decrypt-later is a real threat model for anyone holding secrets with a ten-year shelf life: healthcare, legal, finance. That is the one quantum-adjacent development we track, so our clients do not have to.

The takeaway

Quantum computing will not impact your business anytime soon. The work that moves the needle this year and next is unglamorous: faster pages, clearer content, real security hygiene, AI agents with human oversight. Hype is expensive. We would rather be right.
